カジュアルワーカー

会社で自分の近くに座っていたカジュアルワーカー（非正規雇用）のオージーの女の子が、いつの間にか解雇されていた。あれ、いつの間にかいなくなっているな、アニュアルリーヴ（年次有給休暇）でも取っているのかなと思ったら、マネジャーがあの子は使えないから首にしたよと冷たい一言。外資恐るべし。

その子について、マネジャーは「あの子はGST（物品役務税。日本の消費税に相当。）も知らなかったのよ。」と愚痴を述べていた。GSTの存在自体は外国人かつ一時居住者にすぎない私でも知っている。GSTの存在自体を知らないのか、はたまた日本の消費税にもある仕入税額控除とか，もう少し複雑なGSTの仕組みを知らなかったのか（それなら仕方ない気もする）。マネジャーは他にも何か言っていたが、英語だったので（当たり前だが）、言っていることの全部は分からなかった。

その部署はマネジャーのアシスタントとしてカジュアルワーカーを雇っている。私が来てから解雇されたアシスタントはこれで3人目だ。2人目は、雇ってから1ヶ月も満たないうちに解雇された。まあまあ可愛い女の子だったので、ランチしようねと約束していたのに、それが果たされることはなかった（可愛くなくてもランチはするが）。

非正規雇用が増えている日本でも、さすがにこんなに簡単には解雇されないだろう。それができるのは、法律の違いの他に、オーストラリアが転職社会かつ経済成長を続けているので、容易に次の職が見つかるというのが大きいんだと思う。

A casual worker aussie girl who was sitting near my workstation at our company had been dismissed whilst unnoticed. I thought she were just taking annual leave. However her manager said to me that she was fired due to the lack of her ability. Awesome foreign company.

The manager blamed her that she did not know even GST or Goods and Service Tax which is equivalent to the Japanese Comsumption Tax. Even I who is a foreigner and a temporary resident know about GST. It is not clear to me what the manager exactly said as she spoke English, which is quite natural in Australia.

A casual worker is hired as an assistant to the manager in the section. She was the third person who was dismissed since I came to the current company. I made an appointment to have lunch with the second as she was cute. However she dissapeared with in a month. Of course I have lunch even with not cute girls.

Even in Japan where the number of non-permanent employees are getting larger, I do not think they are dismissed so easily as in Australia. I think what made it possible is that they can find other jobs easily as Australia has the high mobility in employment and its economy has been growing.
